I've cut 80-something 6 7/8" squares in whites and brights.
I've drawn a diagonal line from corner to corner on the wrong side of the whites.
I've paired up the bright squares with a white square, right sides together.
I've sewn 1/4" seams on either side of the drawn line.
Like this.
I've cut them apart on the drawn line. Ta Da!
Here they are opened up.
I've turned one square around to match the bright fabrics up together in a diamond shape.
I have yet to repeat this 80-something times, but I'm working on it.
Also in the works...
A hexagon quilt called Grandmother's Flower Garden
A Bird quilt
All of the designs can be found here. Quilts and More
I love the hexagons because they are so portable! I can take them anywhere, and I do! I started the bird quilt because I need to work on my applique. The magazine I got the pattern from suggested doubling the freezer paper, and it's amazing how much that helped. Also, temporary spray adhesive by Sulky is my new best friend.I'm off to sew for a few minutes,
See ya!

Hi Mary! Nice projects you have in the works. Pretty fabrics - your birds are going to be real cute! I use plenty of freezer paper in my applique, too. Have you ever tried the Kim Diehl method? If not, look at one of her books sometime, a nice method.
Fun, fun fun quilt projects. I am making a GFG in hexagons too. Have you see the blog, The Great Hexagon Quilt Along? There is a link to it on my sidebar. Great inspiration for hexie quilters.
Beautiful colors!
Thank you for wishing my sister happy birthday. You made her day!
And WAY TO GO on the weight loss!!!
